Are You Motivated Enough to Lose Weight?
Losing the desired weight takes motivation and commitment.
How committed are you?
It’s a great idea to ask yourself all the reasons why you want to lose weight.
Armed with this knowledge, you’ll be more motivated and a lot more committed to achieving your goal
How motivated are you to lose weight? Finding enough willpower and motivation to dedicate yourself to a weight loss plan requires some degree of confidence and commitment. People who’ve never had to worry about their weight can’t even grasp what it’s like.
Losing weight isn’t as easy as some may imagine. It’s not as simple as just making a decision to not eat a certain food. It’s a lifelong commitment just like an alcoholic has to stay away from drinking or an addict who has to find a way not to do drugs.
Willpower can work for a time. But, it’s those moments of weakness, the high stress moments, that test us and break us.
We might struggle to understand how on Earth we got here. How we’re supposed to move forward, lose the weight we want and how to keep it off for good. We sometimes experience levels of anxiety, frustration, sadness, and feelings of overwhelm that’s hard to put into words.
Losing weight and keeping it off isn’t easy!
For many of us, it begins with finding the right motivation to handle your food and fitness choices. Many factors may contribute to your decision to commit to finally achieving your ideal weight. Never take it lightly!
Need some help with finding your motivation? Here are three simple tips to think about.
What are all the reasons you want to lose weight?
Ask yourself this question and answer it honestly from the heart, “Why do I want to lose weight?” Just freely write down everything that comes up. Keep asking it until you run out of answers. No answers are wrong. It’s a way of getting in touch with your true ideas and feelings.
Maybe you want to feel better. Or you’re not happy with how you look. Maybe you’re starting to have weight-related health issues. Or are you just tired of being overweight and not fitting comfortably into your clothes?
You must discover and understand what drove you to being overweight. This way you can keep referring back to your list of reasons to keep you on track. Keep those reasons always on your mind to remind yourself of the ‘why’ aspect of what you’re trying to achieve.
Here’s an important tip: Motivation from the heart is much more powerful than motivation from the head.
Your desired, new lifestyle must be your main priority
Being half-hearted won’t get you the results you’re after. It’s a sure way to “fall off the weight-loss wagon.”
You must prioritize your needs to make the necessary changes in your life. It’s all well and good to have an excellent idea of ‘why’ you’re seeking to lose weight. But, for you to be successful, you must make it a priority over everything else. Yes, everything! Maybe it’ll feel a bit awkward at first making yourself a priority, especially if you have a family that you take care of, but your weight-loss plan will have to become a priority. They’ll understand if you sit them down and discuss your needs.
Keep focused on your goal and ignore the insignificant stuff
Your weight loss journey is important for your health and wellbeing. You have a lot to learn about what contributes to your weight gain and what will empower you to be successful in losing weight. You’ll have to learn not to beat yourself up when things are not happening fast enough or if you have a minor setback.
Everyone has a lot of bad habits to let go of and new habits to create. Your goal throughout this process is to not beat yourself up. You must learn to love yourself and imagine your future self after the extra weight has gone.
Just remember, take it easy on yourself but make plans now to be committed to the process.
