The Island Where Fat Vanishes (and People Forget To Die)
I really wish you well in these tough times. I don’t know you, but wherever you are, I hope you’re safe and well.
How did eating become such a problem?
Why is it so hard to eat correctly?
Maybe we’ve got it totally wrong!
Sounds like a hoax, right?
Is there really such a place?
According to the Blue Zones, there are a number of places on the planet that people live longer, have far less disease and enjoy a healthy, stress-free lives.
If you’ve never heard of the Blue Zones, let me quickly go over what they are. The Blue Zones were studied and documented by National Geographic Journalist Dan Buettner and others. They found that there were five longevity hotspots worldwide where many people live over 90-100 years old.
These are Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Icaria, Greece; and among the Seventh-day Adventists in Loma Linda, California. These age-defying places are based on evidence that showed the populations there live healthier and longer lives than others do. We can learn a lot from them.
They also don’t have weight issues, and very little of the many diseases that plague our modern society.
Of course it’s what we’re eating or NOT eating
Food can be medicine or poison. That’s a fact. And yet, people these days are so happy to continue eating and drinking their poison. Such is the power of persuasive marketing I guess.
It’s not all about food though, there’s also stress and other factors. The Blue Zones list nine factors that are necessary for longevity. I won’t cover them here. You can check out bluezones.com if you like.
I was recently reading a story of a man, a Greek war veteran who got himself to the US in 1943. He grew up on the island of Ikaria in Greece. One of the Blue Zones.
When he got to his mid-sixties, he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He was given only 9 months to live. He decided not to get treatment at the local hospital and moved back to Ikaria so he could be buried in his hometown.
But he didn’t die as predicted! He got better and healthier. The cancer disappeared and he lived to over 98, still working and enjoying life. He said, “I don’t eat processed food, I don’t smoke and I don’t get stressed.”
The “thinning enzyme” that burns fat
I don’t know about you but I can’t just pack up and move to Ikaria. It’s also unnecessary to do that.
Researchers discovered that many of the islanders had very high levels of an enzyme called pancreatic lipase. Called Lipase-P. I know what you’re thinking, and before you go searching, you can’t get Lipase-P from a supplement, pill or drug (I looked for it). It’s produced in the pancreas by eating certain foods in combination and not eating other foods.
It was also discovered that this fat burning enzyme was severely lacking in Western people.
But, someone found out how to produce this enzyme in people by using the correct combination of foods eaten at the right time of the day. Once your body is producing enough Lipase-P, the fat will reduce fast. We don’t need to move to Ikaria.

Some final thoughts…
We don’t need to move to one of the Blue Zones to take control of our health. We can do it where we are right now. We just need to learn how. Check out the site I just mentioned.
Let food be your medicine!
